Boys to Men Canada and COVID-19

Dear BTM Canada Staff, Volunteer Mentors, Members and Supporters,

We recognize that the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is changing the way we work, live and interact collectively. We are committed to keeping our BTM family safe and well-informed while doing everything we can to help flatten the growth curve of this pandemic. As such, we urge everyone to follow the recommendations issued by the Government of Canada. For up-to-date information related to COVID-19, including steps you can take to protect yourself and others, please visit: COVID-19 Government of Canada.

With regards to our programming, we are fully aligned and compliant with the directives issued by the Health Ministers and Provincial Medical Health Officers across Canada.

For now, we have:

  • Suspended all our after-school group mentoring circles (boys and girls) until the start of the 2020-2021 school year
  • Postponed all our Adventure Weekend and training retreats until it is deemed safe to resume them

In the interim, we have moved all our programming and mentor training online through our secure Zoom platform. We are currently hosting 8 virtual circles a week for all our members and will launch our virtual Mentor Training program on April 11. As additional virtual circle facilitators are trained and accredited, we will expand our online offerings to reach even more youth across the nation, providing safe places for them to connect socially and emotionally.

Times like these provide us with a unique opportunity to manifest the very best in our shared humanity. Let us continue to expand our hearts and minds to embrace the possibilities moving forward that this pandemic has revealed.

In Service,

David Cordes
Executive Director
